Prisco urges Jaguars to bolster defense before trade deadline
Jacksonville entered its Thursday night game against Baltimore at 5-2, with a league-leading point differential of plus-85. Analyst Pete Prisco said the Jaguars deserved more recognition as a contender, repeating his preseason prediction that they would win the Super Bowl.
The team was giving up only 15.9 points per contest, fewer than any other AFC club, though its defense had lost tackle DaVon Hamilton to a season-ending quad injury. Prisco said the Jaguars should use the trade market to strengthen the defensive front before Tuesday’s deadline, potentially adding an interior defender and a pass rusher.
Prisco argued that Jacksonville was among the teams capable of winning the championship this season and should act accordingly. The Jaguars had reached the playoffs three times in the previous 18 seasons and had never won a Super Bowl.
