Ravens Rule Out Trading Derrick Henry

Baltimore intends to keep Henry through the NFL trade deadline, despite speculation about his future as the team struggles through a difficult season. The Giants have contacted the Ravens, but their inquiry concerned Hill, not Henry. Whether Baltimore and New York could still make a deal for the backup remains uncertain.

The Giants face potential shortages at running back: Cam Skattebo is likely to miss their Sunday game against Philadelphia with a hamstring injury, and Tyrone Tracy is on injured reserve with a similar problem. Hill has gained 240 yards on 33 carries this season, averaging 7.3 yards per attempt.

Baltimore’s own injury crisis has involved both quarterbacks. Lamar Jackson broke his thumb on the opening play against Buffalo, a 36-10 loss, and went on injured reserve; his chances of returning this season are uncertain. Tyler Huntley, who took over, sustained a season-ending toe injury. The Ravens brought in Jacoby Brissett from Arizona, and he is expected to start.

The Ravens have dropped four consecutive games and were outscored 104-33 across their last three contests. Henry, who is averaging 3.9 yards per carry this season, said after Thursday’s loss to Jacksonville that he had not asked to leave and wanted the team to resume work and improve. Baltimore’s decision also puts more attention on Indianapolis running back Jonathan Taylor ahead of the deadline.
