Jaguars Weigh Defensive Line Help Before Trade Deadline

Jacksonville enters the final weekend before Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline at 6-2, following a 33-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. The team is weighing potential moves as it looks to strengthen its position in a competitive AFC, with defensive tackle emerging as the main priority even before Davon Hamilton’s season-ending injury.

Several defensive tackles have surfaced in trade discussions, including Grover Stewart, Davon Godchaux, Nathan Shepherd, Christian Barmore and Bobby Brown III. The Eagles have reportedly turned away inquiries about Moro Ojomo, while the Dolphins have done the same regarding Zach Sieler. Carolina’s Derrick Brown could be a major addition, but would be costly, and the Panthers are not actively looking to trade him.

Jacksonville is among multiple teams exploring the position. The available choices may offer useful help, but there is no clear trade target comparable to the high-profile defensive tackles who have already changed teams this season.

Thomas, meanwhile, has had a quiet stretch. He was not targeted in Thursday night’s game and has made one catch since Week 4, including three games without a catch in the past month. Kansas City had shown interest, but that pursuit has cooled. Jacksonville has been reluctant to move the former first-round pick and would likely want a high draft pick in return.

Though Thomas has not produced much, his downfield ability is viewed as helping open space for the run game and other receivers. A trade before Tuesday now appears less likely; talks could resume in March if he remains in Jacksonville through the deadline.
