Broncos Check on Trey McBride as Trade Deadline Nears

The Denver Broncos have asked about the availability of Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride as they look to strengthen their roster before the trade deadline. Denver is 6-2 and leads the AFC West. The deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter said the Cardinals have made clear they do not plan to trade McBride. A second-round selection in 2022, McBride has recorded 413 receptions, 4,019 yards and 22 touchdowns in his career. He is an All-Pro and is from Fort Morgan, Colorado, and played college football at Colorado State.

Denver’s tight ends through the first eight weeks—Evan Engram, Adam Trautman, Nate Adkins and Dallen Bentley—have totaled 23 catches, 220 yards and four touchdowns. The team’s interest in McBride could signal a broader effort to add a playmaker at the position, though no other potential target is identified.

The Broncos are scheduled to face the Carolina Panthers in Week 9.
