Patriots and Giants Emerge as Possible Derrick Henry Trade Destinations
On November 5, the Patriots of New England and the Giants of New York emerged as teams with interest in trading for Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry. There is no indication that Baltimore plans to move the 32-year-old, but the Ravens’ playoff prospects have weakened after quarterback Lamar Jackson suffered a thumb injury requiring an operation, potentially keeping him out for the season.
The Ravens have also dealt with an injury to backup quarterback Tyler Huntley. They started undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano against the Jacksonville Jaguars after Huntley hurt his toe in a loss to the Buffalo Bills. Baltimore acquired Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals, but its chances of reaching the postseason are seen as fading without Jackson.
Henry has played for Baltimore since 2024, recording more than 4,000 rushing yards and 42 touchdowns with the team. Patriots coach Mike Vrabel coached him earlier in his career with the Tennessee Titans. Giants coach John Harbaugh led Baltimore during Henry’s first two Ravens seasons.
The reported contract terms could make a deal appealing to a contender: Henry’s remaining pay this season would be about $600,000, while his deal includes an unguaranteed $12 million for next year. The 5-3 Patriots, led by quarterback Drake Maye, could use him as another offensive option. The trade deadline is November 10 at 4 p.m. Eastern time; Henry could instead remain with Baltimore through the season.
