Ravens Explore Quarterback Trade After Jackson Injury
Jackson injured his throwing-hand thumb on Baltimore’s first offensive play in Sunday’s 36-10 defeat. Coach Jesse Minter said Jackson would go on injured reserve and need surgery; the quarterback is expected to miss at least four games, and his return this season is uncertain.
Huntley also left the game with a toe injury. Undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano finished at quarterback, but his condition was also in question after he received treatment for an ankle or foot issue during the second half. The short turnaround before Thursday’s game leaves Baltimore searching for help.
The Ravens have contacted the Chicago Bears about backup Tyson Bagent, who knows the offense of Baltimore coordinator Declan Doyle from their time together in Chicago. Bagent played three games this season while Caleb Williams missed time, completing 66% of his throws, and the Bears have valued him as a backup. Chicago is not eager to part with him, and its Monday game against Seattle further complicates a potential deal.
Other possible options include Denver’s Sam Ehlinger, who was inactive for the Broncos’ game Sunday. Baltimore could also consider free agents, though arranging a workout, physical and signing before Thursday would be difficult. The NFL trade deadline is November 10 at 4 p.m. ET.
