Michael Irvin Sees Miami as a Bigger Stage for Lamar Jackson
Lamar Jackson’s future with the Baltimore Ravens has drawn attention after a thumb injury in Week 8 left him facing surgery and likely sidelined for the rest of the 2026 season. The quarterback is under contract through next season, but his deal includes clauses that prevent the Ravens from trading or using the franchise tag on him. His cap hit would be $84.3 million.
On November 3, former Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin made the case for Jackson to leave Baltimore for the Miami Dolphins. Irvin argued that Miami could make Jackson an international star, taking his profile beyond his current standing as an NFL superstar.
The Dolphins, however, are 1-6, and the account of Irvin’s argument noted that the team appears to need more than a quarterback to contend in the AFC. Jackson could weigh the football situation alongside the potential increase in visibility.
Jackson’s contract runs through next season, but his eventual playing future remains a question after the injury. The possibility of a move to Miami is one of the options now being discussed; whether he stays in Baltimore or plays elsewhere will become clearer as his recovery and future plans unfold.
