Commanders Rally Past Eagles as Philadelphia Falls to Sixth Straight Loss

Philadelphia took a 10-0 first-quarter lead on Jake Elliott’s 40-yard field goal and Saquon Barkley’s three-yard touchdown run. Washington’s opening period was marked by penalties and a fumble, but the Commanders began to recover with a 56-yard Drew Stevens field goal and an eight-yard Jayden Daniels touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs. Washington led 13-10 at halftime.

The Commanders kept Philadelphia scoreless for the rest of the game. Daniels threw for 217 yards and a touchdown, while Washington’s defense brought down Eagles quarterback Tanner McKee five times and picked off one of his passes. McKee, starting in place of injured Jalen Hurts, passed for 212 yards without a touchdown. A third-quarter strip sack led to a Washington field goal.

Philadelphia had a chance to cut the deficit to three in the fourth quarter, but an illegal-formation penalty erased Elliott’s made field goal. His subsequent 41-yard attempt missed. Washington added another Stevens field goal, then a Rachaad White touchdown run and an Austin Ekeler two-point conversion to complete the 27-10 score.

Barkley finished with 30 yards on 13 carries, and the Eagles had 91 rushing yards as a team. Philadelphia fell to 2-6 and last place in the NFC East. Washington improved to 2-4-1, claiming a victory for the first time in over a month. The Eagles are scheduled to host the New York Giants next; Washington will host the Los Angeles Rams.
