Eagles Lose Smith and Wicks for Commanders Game

Smith, sidelined by a hamstring injury, will miss his fourth game of the 2026 season. Wicks is out with an ankle injury. Neither receiver practiced during the week before the game against the Commanders.

Rookie Makai Lemon led Philadelphia in receiving the previous week, catching seven passes for 67 yards. With Smith and Wicks unavailable again, the Eagles will have to rely on their remaining receivers.

Running back Saquon Barkley has no injury designation, despite hamstring and back issues. He took part in Friday’s practice on a limited basis. After missing two games, Barkley returned against Dallas in Week 7, carrying seven times for 62 yards and a touchdown while playing 10 offensive snaps. Elijah Mitchell and Jaydon Blue are expected to back him up; Dameon Pierce went on injured reserve after the Dallas game.

Linebacker Jihaad Campbell, receiver Britain Covey and cornerback Jonathan Jones were also ruled out. Outside linebacker Jalyx Hunt and defensive tackle Moro Ojomo have no game designation after limited Friday practices.

Philadelphia enters the matchup on a five-game losing streak, its longest since 2016.
