Love’s Three Touchdowns Lead Packers Past Panthers
Green Bay built a 27-10 lead before holding off Carolina’s late push. Love completed 30 of 41 passes for 288 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Josh Jacobs scored twice, including on a short reception and a one-yard run, while the Packers improved to 5-3 despite three turnovers.
The Panthers narrowed the gap to 27-19 when Young connected with Coker on a 26-yard scoring throw with 5:37 remaining. Young’s pass on the two-point attempt fell incomplete. Carolina later lost the ball on downs near midfield, then got one final possession with 22 seconds left. Dani Dennis-Sutton sacked Young, ending the last chance to rally.
Watson was taken to a hospital after sustaining a chest injury on a 53-yard reception during the second quarter. He returned late in the third and finished with 113 yards on eight catches. “I’m happy to be out here on a football field,” he said after the game. Panthers cornerback Will Lee injured his hamstring on the same play and was carted off. Carolina was already without three cornerbacks on injured reserve.
Several Milwaukee Brewers players were welcomed at Lambeau Field after the team won its first World Series title. Brandon Woodruff carried the Commissioner’s Trophy onto the field, and players joined the celebration in cheesehead hats. Green Bay next visits New England on November 8; Carolina hosts Denver that day.
