Cardinals Set to Welcome Back Jeremiyah Love Against Cowboys

The Arizona Cardinals expect rookie running back Jeremiyah Love to return for their November 1 game against the Dallas Cowboys. Love missed the previous two games with an ankle injury, and coach Mike LaFleur said Friday that the third overall draft pick was ready to play, while acknowledging he was not fully recovered.

Arizona also expects top receiver Michael Wilson to be available. The 26-year-old was limited in practice because of a rib injury. Wilson leads the Cardinals in receiving targets, catches and yards, with 66 targets, 37 receptions and 375 yards this season.

Love has recorded 245 rushing yards on 67 carries, averaging 3.7 yards per attempt, and scored once on the ground. He has also made 11 catches for 36 yards and a receiving touchdown. His return comes as Arizona tries to improve a rushing attack averaging 96 yards per game.

Tyler Allgeier has handled more of the workload while Love was out and is listed with a toe injury. Bam Knight has also helped fill the gap. LaFleur said the running game needs more continuity as the team works through changes and injuries on the offensive line and among its backs.

Arizona enters the matchup with a 2-5 record. Dallas has the league’s weakest run defense by the reported statistical measure, giving Love and the Cardinals an opportunity to strengthen their ground game.
