Raiders’ Offensive Line Faces a Test Against the Jets
Las Vegas heads to New York for a Week 8 matchup after losing four straight games. The Jets are also coming off a defeat, a 28-25 loss to Miami that left them 2-5. They host the Raiders at MetLife Stadium on November 1.
Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins has thrown 16 touchdown passes, the most in the NFL, and his 1,877 passing yards rank third. But Las Vegas has struggled to get its offense going early and has lacked a productive running game. Running back Ashton Jeanty has not reached 60 yards in a game since his 102-yard debut in Week 1.
The Raiders’ offensive line is another concern, particularly at guard. Coach Klint Kubiak said Bryve Cabeldue and rookie Trey Zuhn III could get opportunities to earn playing time. The team’s ability to run the ball could depend on improved guard play.
New York could look to exploit Las Vegas’ defense, which has allowed 140.6 rushing yards per game. Over the Raiders’ four-game skid, opponents have averaged 6.5 yards per play, the league’s highest mark in that span. The Jets will need to pressure Cousins and prevent him from finding a late-game rhythm.
The game also reunites the Raiders with Geno Smith, their starting quarterback last season. A win could affect Las Vegas’ decisions ahead of the trade deadline, while another loss would add pressure as the team weighs its next moves. The Jets will try to secure their third win before facing Kansas City in Week 9.
