Raiders Rally Past Jets as New York’s Defense Falters

New York could not protect its lead against Las Vegas, which scored touchdowns on its first three possessions after halftime and took the lead for good on Kirk Cousins’ 2-yard pass to Jalen Nailor. Cousins threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns in the Raiders’ 38-33 win on November 1 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The Jets gave up 236 yards after halftime and allowed four Raiders scoring drives that each lasted at least nine plays. Las Vegas scored touchdowns on all four of its red-zone trips; New York managed two touchdowns in six trips. Dylan Laube gave the Jets a spark with a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown after they had moved ahead 13-7.

Minkah Fitzpatrick faulted defensive penalties and mistakes, while linebacker Demario Davis said the unit’s performance was uneven and disappointing. Coach Aaron Glenn, who calls the defensive plays, said he needed to do better at putting players in the right situations and that the defense also had to execute. New York has now lost five games by one score, but Glenn said the team must improve rather than dwell on how close those defeats were.
