Wentz to Start for Vikings as Murray Sits With Hamstring Injury
The Vikings said Murray is week to week with the injury. His absence comes after Minnesota lost its first game of the season to Detroit, amid questions about his play and the possibility of a change at quarterback.
Murray has completed 64.9% of his passes, his lowest rate since his rookie season, and has an 86.6 passer rating, the worst of his career. He has rushed for 167 yards in six games this season and has yet to score a rushing touchdown. In his second NFL season, he ran for 819 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Wentz has appeared in two games for Minnesota this year. In the season opener against Green Bay, he helped lead a comeback win, throwing for 133 yards and three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
The Vikings have also been linked to possible quarterback trades. Receiver Justin Jefferson has 335 receiving yards and is not on pace to become a 1,000-yard receiver at any point in his NFL career.
