Katseye Detroit Concert Postponed Minutes Before Showtime

The group announced the postponement at 7:30 p.m., only half an hour before its scheduled 8 p.m. performance at Little Caesars Arena. The venue’s screens said the concert was postponed because of illness and would be rescheduled. Katseye later said Megan Skiendiel was unwell and could not perform, and apologized to fans for the disruption and their travel plans.

Jessica Lenhardt drove about five and a half hours from Skokie, Illinois, with her daughters, ages 8 and 10. She said the family paid about $5,000 for premium-access passes, transportation and clothing, and had taken two days off school and work. Lenhardt said the late announcement left them feeling that their hopes had been maintained until shortly before the show.

Other parents described children crying inside the arena and questioned why the cancellation came so close to the start. Three members had already joined a VIP reception and sung a pair of songs during a sound check ahead of the show. Katseye said it was disappointed not to see fans and wanted Skiendiel to have time to recover. The concert is to be rescheduled; no new date was included in the announcement.
