Demari Brown Sentenced to 45 Years for Gaithersburg Murder
A Montgomery County judge sentenced Demari Brown, 21, to a life term, suspending all but 45 years, for the April 2025 murder of Henry Krishawn Gilbert. Brown will also serve five years of supervised probation after his release from prison.
Gilbert, 20, was found dead inside a Honda Civic in Gaithersburg on April 26, 2025. Prosecutors said he was shot in the head while sitting in the car. Brown, a resident of Montgomery Village, admitted guilt to first-degree murder.
Investigators determined that Brown’s co-defendant, Jorden Hungerford, posed as a female friend of Gilbert on social media and lured him to a meeting by asking to buy $70 worth of marijuana. Prosecutors said the two defendants encountered Gilbert on Brookridge Court, where Gilbert was robbed and shot.
A jury convicted Hungerford, 20, of killing Gilbert in the first degree, robbery with a weapon, plotting to carry out a robbery with a weapon, and using a firearm in a felony. His sentencing is scheduled for November 6; prosecutors said he faces a possible life sentence plus 60 years.
