Patriots Await Update on A.J. Brown’s Week 9 Status

Brown missed New England’s Week 8 game against Miami after a knee issue appeared on the injury report the previous week. The Patriots are scheduled to play the Green Bay Packers in Week 9, and coach Mike Vrabel said on November 2 that Brown’s availability would depend on how he responds to treatment during the week.

Vrabel said Brown was receiving treatment and that the team would assess players who had been unavailable when it reviewed their condition on Wednesday. That means the Patriots may not have a clearer indication of Brown’s status until the middle of the week.

Brown had returned from a high ankle sprain suffered in Week 1, playing in Weeks 6 and 7. Asked whether the team had brought him back too soon, Vrabel did not directly address the question. He said Brown had not traveled with the team for the Miami game and that he planned to check on him in treatment.

Vrabel has described the knee and ankle problems as separate injuries. In the three games Brown has played this season, he has caught three passes in each, for 101 yards total.
