A.J. Brown Misses Practice With Ankle and Knee Issues

On October 29, A.J. Brown missed New England’s practice with ankle and knee issues, leaving his availability for Sunday’s road game against the Miami Dolphins uncertain. Running back TreVeyon Henderson was also absent, with the team listing him as ill. Three other Patriots were limited, while eight fully participated.

Brown has played in three games this season, including two since returning from a high ankle sprain that kept him out for four games. He has nine catches for 101 yards and no touchdowns on 20 targets. His knee has been a concern before: the Patriots were aware of a degenerative condition when they acquired him from Philadelphia in June, and the team’s medical staff approved the trade.

Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said Brown’s health would be central to building him back up, and that the team would follow medical guidance on what he could do. Brown has said he is still working to regain his explosiveness after the ankle injury.

New England’s receiver group is already without Romeo Doubs and Mack Hollins, both on injured reserve. If Brown cannot play, the Patriots could look to their remaining receivers or elevate a player from the practice squad. Henderson’s absence could also prompt consideration of a practice-squad call-up. The Patriots enter the Dolphins matchup at 4-3.
