A.J. Brown Questionable for Patriots’ Game Against Dolphins

On October 30, New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said the team would make a decision Saturday on A.J. Brown’s availability for its Sunday game against the Miami Dolphins. Brown missed Thursday and Friday’s practices after leaving Wednesday’s session early, and is listed with ankle and knee issues.

Brown returned on October 17 after a high ankle sprain in the season opener and has played in two games since. He has six catches for 75 yards in those appearances, and nine receptions for 101 yards overall this season. He said Wednesday that he was working through an issue and trying to get back to his best.

The Patriots could be short on receivers if Brown sits. Romeo Doubs and Mack Hollins are unavailable, leaving Kyle Williams, DeMario Douglas and Efton Chism among the team’s options. Vrabel said a practice-squad receiver would be ready if needed. Fantasy football advice in the reports identified Douglas as the most likely New England receiver to start in Brown’s absence, while noting uncertainty around the team’s passing game.

Running back TreVeyon Henderson is also questionable after missing two practices with an illness. He has 203 rushing yards and one touchdown this season, along with five catches for 45 yards. Vrabel said the team would assess questionable players before making its final decisions Saturday.
