McBride Taunts Downs as Cardinals Rally Past Cowboys
The Arizona Cardinals erased a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Dallas Cowboys 33-30 in overtime at AT&T Stadium on November 1, with a late-game taunt by tight end Trey McBride toward rookie safety Caleb Downs becoming a viral moment from the matchup.
McBride caught a pass against Downs on third-and-6 late in the second quarter, then challenged the Cowboys defender’s status as a first-round pick. Dallas selected Downs 11th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Downs had another difficult moment early in the fourth quarter, when Arizona running back Tyler Allgeier broke off a 52-yard run and center Hjalte Froholdt drove Downs downfield during the play. Downs suffered a concussion in the game.
McBride finished with seven catches for 72 yards and a touchdown. He has 66 receptions for 544 yards and five touchdowns this season, leading the league in catches. Arizona won on a game-winning field goal by Chad Ryland.
Despite the loss, Downs remains Dallas’ leading tackler, with 52. He has also forced three fumbles and recorded one sack. Both teams are 3-5 to open the season.
