Lamb Says Cardinals Have Outworked Cowboys in Recent Matchups
Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb has yet to beat the Arizona Cardinals in four career meetings. Ahead of the teams’ Week 8 matchup on November 1, he said Arizona had repeatedly arrived with more energy and intensity, and urged Dallas to treat the Cardinals like a top contender.
The Cardinals have won four straight games against Dallas and eight of the teams’ last nine meetings dating to 2008. Their most recent win came last season, when Arizona beat Dallas 27-17 on Monday night. Lamb said the Cowboys had been too relaxed in those matchups and that the Cardinals had “punched us in the mouth every single time.”
Coach Brian Schottenheimer offered a different explanation: turnovers. Dallas has a minus-11 turnover margin across the teams’ last nine meetings, including three giveaways and no takeaways in last year’s loss. The Cowboys have not turned the ball over in any of their three wins this season, while each of their four losses included at least one turnover.
Dallas enters the game 3-4, with the league’s fifth-ranked scoring offense at 27 points per game. Arizona is 2-5 and allows a league-high 29.7 points per game; its offense has scored touchdowns on 42.9% of its red-zone drives, the league’s lowest rate.
Quarterback Dak Prescott said Dallas must take care of business, while crediting Arizona’s defense and execution. The Cowboys are seven-point home favorites, and a win would end their four-game losing streak against the Cardinals.
