Jets’ 33-Point Outburst Falls Short Against Raiders
The Jets built an early lead with a productive offense, but couldn’t hold off the Raiders, who took control late and handed New York its sixth loss in eight games. The Jets managed 33 points and 166 rushing yards, yet went 2-for-6 in the red zone and came up short in a one-score game.
Braelon Allen led the ground attack with 147 yards on 21 carries, including a 21-yard touchdown. It was his third consecutive 100-yard rushing game. Geno Smith completed 20 of 32 passes for two touchdowns, but threw an interception on the Jets’ final possession. Receiver AD Mitchell had seven catches for 142 yards and a touchdown.
A 95-yard Raiders kickoff return for a touchdown gave Las Vegas a first-half lead and proved costly. The Jets’ defense then allowed 24 points in the second half, including scores on three straight Raiders drives. New York’s defensive line was missing four starters: David Bailey, David Onyemata, T’Vondre Sweat and Joseph Ossai. The Jets fell to 2-6, while their offense showed the potential to produce but failed to turn enough red-zone chances into touchdowns.
