Lions Say Early Signs Are Positive on Jack Campbell

Campbell was injured while trying to tackle Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson in the fourth quarter at Ford Field. He remained motionless on the turf as players and medical staff gathered around him, then was placed on a backboard and taken from the field by cart before being transported to a hospital for evaluation of a neck injury.

The Lions said Campbell was resting in hospital for continued evaluation and monitoring. In a subsequent update, the team described the preliminary indications as positive but said it would not share further details to protect Campbell and his family's privacy.

The injury visibly affected players on both teams. Detroit defensive captain Aidan Hutchinson tried to rally teammates before play resumed, and later said they were playing for Campbell. Head coach Dan Campbell led a locker-room prayer after the victory, while Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell also expressed concern for the linebacker.

Dan Campbell said after the game that he had no new information about his player’s condition. The team said it would provide further updates as it had them.

Jack Campbell, 26, was a first-round pick in 2023 and had played in every game since entering the NFL. He earned his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections after the 2025 season, when he recorded 176 tackles and five sacks. He had 57 tackles and one fumble recovery in seven games this season.
