Gibbs Returns to Practice as Lions Prepare for Vikings
Gibbs took part fully in Thursday’s practice after being listed as a non-participant the day before. He said he had a minor shoulder injury from a one-handed catch, and thought a defensive end may have landed on him afterward. Gibbs said the shoulder would not keep him from pass protection and that he expected to be fine for the Vikings game. He was surprised to see a questionable designation on his phone, saying he was unsure why it appeared.
Safety Kerby Joseph, who has a knee injury, and cornerback Ennis Rakestraw, listed with an ankle injury, were limited. The Lions listed the rest of the players on Thursday’s report as full participants, including Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Aidan Hutchinson, who was listed for rest.
Detroit, coming off two straight wins, faces a 6-0 Minnesota team whose defense has allowed no more than 16 points in each of its last five games. Gibbs said the Lions need to run effectively on early downs to prevent Minnesota from relying on its blitzes and pressure packages. Before practice, defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard praised his unit’s recent performances against Green Bay and said players had consistently carried out the team’s weekly goals.
