Dallas Police Spokesperson Put on Leave During Investigation

The Dallas Police Department’s Public Integrity Unit is investigating a complaint tied to Hudson’s use of a department-issued vehicle in August. The complaint alleges she activated the vehicle’s emergency lights while driving, although she is a civilian employee and not authorized to use them. Accounts of the incident also describe a confrontation with another driver, who filed a complaint alleging Hudson impersonated a police officer. Hudson has not been charged with a crime.

The department said the leave was in keeping with its policies and earlier actions by Police Chief Daniel Comeaux. The investigation remains open, and the department has not released further details.

Dallas Police Association President Sean Pease said Hudson was accused of felony impersonation of a public servant. He said Comeaux told him Hudson was using the vehicle because it was the only one available to her. Pease also raised concerns that Hudson’s position brought her favorable treatment, and said City Council members had questioned why she was not placed on leave earlier.

Comeaux rejected claims that he had intervened in the investigation. He said he was disappointed that department members shared unverified allegations, which he said could hinder the inquiry and distract from police work. Hudson has not commented, citing the ongoing investigation.
