Meta Launches AI Fashion App Style Sketch in Three Asian Markets

Meta’s Style Sketch app builds a digital closet from clothing photos users have shared on Instagram or Facebook. Users can also add garments by taking photos or video, or uploading pictures from their camera roll, without connecting social accounts. The app is available on iOS and Android in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.

Style Sketch suggests outfit combinations from a user’s wardrobe, including looks based on a particular item they select. Users can preview combinations on a virtual model designed to match their body shape and skin tone. The app can also make travel outfit plans using a destination, trip length and planned activities; its suggestions can take weather into account.

The launch adds to Meta’s recent introductions of AI-focused apps, including Waddle World, Pocket and Vibes. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said earlier this year that AI tools have made it easier for the company to develop and release more apps. The company has not said whether Style Sketch will become available in other markets.

Other services also offer digital wardrobe tools or virtual clothing try-ons. Google Photos can create a catalog of clothing from users’ pictures, while Google Search and ChatGPT have offered virtual try-on features.
