Two People Stabbed at Austin Coffee Shop; Suspect Arrested
Austin police responded to The Buzz Mill, a café and tavern at 1505 Town Creek Drive, shortly before 9 p.m. on October 28 after receiving a report of a disturbance. Officers and emergency medical responders found two people with stab wounds and took them to a hospital. One had life-threatening injuries and the other had non-life-threatening injuries; both were later in stable condition.
Police said the call was classified as a “disturbance hot shot,” a designation for an altercation escalating quickly with an immediate threat of death or serious injury. Grace was wearing a Halloween costume during the incident. A witness described the costume as a zombie outfit with makeup covering his face.
After the stabbing, the suspect allegedly fled in a pickup truck and struck an unoccupied autonomous vehicle. Police searched for him and found him on a walking trail. The trail was near Rosewood and Chestnut avenues.
Grace, 20, was held at the Travis County Jail and faces two charges of aggravated assault involving a weapon capable of causing death, both second-degree felonies. The two injured people remained in stable condition at the latest update. Police have not released a motive. Anyone with information can contact the Austin Police Department’s Aggravated Assault unit at 512-974-5245.
