Dallas Police Seek Suspect in Deep Ellum Halloween Shooting
Security footage from the 2600 block of Main Street shows a man in a camouflage hoodie taking a gun from his pants and holding it at his side at about 1:04 a.m. before placing it in his waistband, Dallas police said. Police say he then fired indiscriminately in a parking lot, injuring seven people.
The shooting was one of three reported in Deep Ellum over about 75 minutes on Halloween night. Four people were killed: Kaniesa Scott, 21, Unique Elise Benjamin, 28, Anthony McCleary, 25, and Isaiah Boling, 20. Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said the overall number of injured people, approximately 15, remained fluid because some went to hospitals on their own.
Officers assigned to the area for Halloween crowds ran toward gunfire from less than two blocks away and provided emergency aid, reviving at least one person, Comeaux said. Police are seeking tips and video from the night and believe someone may recognize the man in the footage. Information about this suspect or the other shootings can be sent to Sgt. Boz Rojas at [email protected] or 214-671-3598.
