People Inc. Cuts 195 Jobs as It Shifts Media Operations
People Inc. is cutting 195 jobs across its offices, in a reduction equal to about 6% of its workforce. CEO Neil Vogel told employees the changes were concentrated in print and older web operations as the publisher adapts to shifts in media and redirects resources toward new projects.
The company’s portfolio includes Southern Living, Travel + Leisure, Food & Wine, InStyle, People, Entertainment Weekly and other brands. Vogel said People Inc. had hired 320 people so far in 2026 and intended to keep investing in the following year. The company said affected employees would meet individually with human-resources and business leaders, and that it aimed to make their departure smooth.
The cuts come as the company’s print and digital businesses move in different directions. In the second quarter, revenue fell 2% to $416.7 million. Digital revenue rose 6% to $289.9 million, while print revenue declined 16% to $132.6 million. Digital sessions totaled 1.89 billion, down 23% from the same quarter a year earlier.
People Inc. is scheduled to release its third-quarter results on November 3. Vogel said the company would hold an all-hands meeting in the weeks after the earnings announcement to discuss its plans and priorities for 2027.
