Canva restructuring will affect 1,271 employees
The changes will bring Canva’s Product, Growth and Platform teams into a single product organization, reduce layers and combine some specialized roles into broader ones. The company also plans to make Sydney the main base for more product teams and certain other roles, and will ask most hybrid employees to work in an office two to three days a week from January, depending on local circumstances.
Perkins said Canva’s growth had lost momentum after years of expansion and described the year as its hardest yet. The company lowered its 2026 revenue growth forecast in August, from 30% to 20%. Perkins said the restructuring was intended to prepare Canva for its next stage by giving smaller teams more autonomy and clearer responsibility.
Employees leaving the company will be paid no less than six months’ salary, 12 months of health coverage and career-support resources. Canva said it would support workers asked to relocate, though the changes will mean departures as well as role changes. The company’s plans also include more in-person collaboration among teams.
