Gio Reyna Injury Forces USMNT Roster Change
Gio Reyna will miss the U.S. men’s national team’s Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals after a thigh injury forced him off the field during Strasbourg’s match against Toulouse in France on November 6. The U.S. named Stoke City winger Jack McGlynn as his replacement on November 7, ahead of the team’s scheduled gathering on November 9 near Atlanta.
Reyna left in the 70th minute, three minutes after scoring Strasbourg’s only goal in a 3-1 defeat. He appeared to be in pain and called for a substitution. The severity of the injury and his expected recovery time were not specified.
The 23-year-old had been in a prominent role for Strasbourg since joining the French club, starting eight league matches this season and scoring three times. He also started all four U.S. friendlies during the team’s September and October window.
McGlynn, 23, has scored five goals in 11 English Championship appearances for Stoke, including in each of his last three matches. He has 13 U.S. caps and was part of the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup squad. His latest club goal came in a 2-1 win over Portsmouth on November 7.
This is the second injury-related change to the U.S. squad in a few days. Center back Mark McKenzie was brought in for George Campbell, who is sidelined by a groin injury. The U.S. is due to face Haiti in the first of two quarterfinal legs on November 14 in Miami.
