Cavaliers Rout Sixers as James Scores Eight in Cleveland Return
Donovan Mitchell scored 23 points and Evan Mobley added 22 as the Cavaliers handed the 76ers a 119-95 defeat in Cleveland on November 6. The result ended Philadelphia’s run of eight wins in its first 10 games and was its second loss of the season.
James, playing in Cleveland after signing with Philadelphia in the offseason, made three of 12 shots and missed all four of his three-point attempts in 31 minutes. He heard scattered boos from Cavaliers fans during the first half. His eight points marked only the 10th single-digit regular-season scoring game of his 24-year career.
Philadelphia struggled to find its shooting touch, making 36.5% of its shots and 10 of 40 attempts from three-point range. Jaylen Brown led the Sixers with 20 points, while VJ Edgecombe contributed 19 and Tyrese Maxey added 17. Joel Embiid went 0-for-9 from the field but made six free throws.
Cleveland controlled much of the game and led 46-30 early in the second quarter after an alley-oop dunk by Mobley. The Cavaliers’ lead reached 25 in the fourth. They outrebounded Philadelphia by 14 despite missing starting center Jarrett Allen, who was out with a bruised right knee.
Philadelphia visits the Chicago Bulls on Sunday to close its road trip. Cleveland hosts the New York Knicks on Saturday.
