Chunghwa Telecom Backs 10 Taiwanese Content Projects

On November 6, 2026, Taiwan’s largest telecom operator unveiled a slate of 10 content investments at Taiwan Creative Content Fest. The projects include screen productions and a music tour, as well as equity stakes in two production companies. Chunghwa said it aims to support original Taiwanese work and connect local creators with partners overseas.

The scripted series include police drama “Gunshot,” produced with PTS Taigi TV and S11 Partners; family fantasy “The Day Before’s Daughter, The Day After’s Mother”; comic-book adaptation “Guides to the World Below”; and food-centered urban drama “C’est la Vie,” featuring actress Esther Liu in the executive producer role. Chunghwa is also investing in “Next Z Chef,” a cooking competition for young people.

Its film slate includes “Demon of the East: Black Condo,” part of a horror universe spanning four Asian countries, and “Call of Lobster,” an action comedy starring Chang Chen and Choi Siwon. The latter received Chunghwa’s award at the festival’s 2024 pitching sessions and was chosen for the Culture Ministry’s inaugural international flagship group within its Great Voyage initiative.

The music investment supports Taiwanese indie band Shallow Levée’s “Speak in Silence” tour, planned to include about 50 performances in Taiwan and eight other Asian countries. Chunghwa and its cultural subsidiary have also acquired stakes in DaMou Entertainment and Horiza Creations. DaMou’s credits include “The World Between Us II” and “Wave Makers,” while Horiza uses crowdfunding and community involvement to assess audience interest.

Chunghwa executive Lin Wen-chiyh said the company intends to unite financial backing, artistic expertise and partners at home and abroad to help Taiwanese content reach global markets. Two previously backed films, “Arrested Memory” and “The Photo From 1977,” have received a combined 12 nominations for the 63rd Golden Horse Awards. The company also operates MOD IPTV and Hami Video, which together have more than 3 million subscribers.
