Jodie Sweetin Recalls Financial Hardship Before Her Acting Comeback

On November 6, 2026, Jodie Sweetin spoke about the financial strain she faced while recovering from drug addiction and raising her two daughters. The Full House actress said the money she had earned from the original sitcom went toward treatment before she became sober in 2011.

During an appearance on Natanya Ross’s podcast, Sweetin recalled living with her children in a small apartment and earning $2,200 a month. Her parents helped pay half the rent. She also described driving an older used car and having to put items back at a store when her debit card could not cover them.

While in treatment, Sweetin took a job as a director of operations to earn income. She said working an ordinary job helped her appreciate her circumstances and later return to acting with a different perspective. At the time, she was raising daughters Zoie and Beatrix, now 18 and 16, respectively.

When Fuller House started in 2016, Sweetin still had little money. She said she borrowed money during her first week on the show and had about $190 in her account when her first paycheck arrived. The Netflix series ran for five seasons, ending in 2020.

Sweetin has also spoken publicly about her addiction, including in a 2025 podcast appearance, where she said she had abused cocaine, crystal meth and ecstasy. She said fame made her struggles more visible, though she believed she would have faced addiction issues even without a career in television.
