Millions of Little Giant Ladders Recalled Over Fall Risk
The locks are intended to secure ladder rungs when the ladder’s height is adjusted. If a Rapid Lock is not fully engaged, it can retract and cause the ladder to collapse, creating a fall hazard. The recall covers 11 models: “Adjustable Fortress 2.0”; “Conquest 2.0”; “Dark Horse 2.0”; “Epic”; “King Kombo XT”; “Leveler”; “MegaLite”; “MegaLite+”; “Multi”; “Quantum”; and “Vector.”
Little Giant logged 25 instances of ladders retracting, with 19 injury cases. Three cases involved head trauma, including traumatic brain injuries, fractured skulls, concussions, impaired sight or hearing, and cognitive difficulties. Other reported injuries include fractures, cuts and bruising. The company also received 39 complaints about Rapid Locks not working properly.
Customers could buy the recalled ladders from Lowe’s, Costco and other stores, as well as through online retailers, from December 2015 through October 2026. They cost between about $100 and $1,000. The brand and model appear on the ladder’s side; only ladders without an orange rectangular “QC” sticker on the rail above a Rapid Lock are included.
Consumers should stop using affected ladders and contact Little Giant for a repair kit with warning labels and instructions. The guidance explains how to check that locks are engaged and maintain them with lubricant. If a lock still malfunctions after lubrication, customers should seek an evaluation. If it continues to fail, Little Giant will offer a replacement ladder or a refund, with the amount depending on the purchase date.
