Bose Recalls More Than 670,000 Speaker Battery Packs

The recall covers nearly 635,000 battery packs in the United States and about 35,400 in Canada. The affected packs were supplied with Bose S1 Pro and S1 Pro+ portable speaker systems and were also sold on their own as accessories or replacement parts. Sales ran from December 2017 through July 2026, through Bose and retailers including Best Buy, Amazon and Walmart, among others.

Bose received seven reports of packs melting, smoking or catching fire. Six reports involved property damage, and no injuries have been reported. The hazard could cause fires or burn injuries.

Owners should take out the battery pack and discontinue its use if its 17-digit serial number begins with 083723, 078352, 084105, 078591, 078592, 084106 or 086409. The number is printed on a label on the pack’s underside. Bose is offering free replacement packs; the speaker can still be used with AC power while awaiting one.

Recalled lithium-ion packs should not go in household garbage because they can pose a fire danger. Consumers should contact a local hazardous-waste facility for safe disposal guidance.
