Murrieta Man Arrested in Ventura County Fuel Theft Case

Investigators say Gabrielian was among several people who used stolen credit card information to buy fuel at gas stations in Ventura County. The case began after Poole Commercial Fuels reported a data breach on October 17. Detectives say fraudulent charges to the company’s accounts totaled about $113,000, with fuel purchases made at stations around the county.

Authorities believe the suspects sometimes bought as much as $2,500 of fuel in one visit, using multiple cards. Investigators reviewed station surveillance and gathered vehicle registration details, while concluding the unusually large purchases likely involved vehicles adapted to carry extra fuel.

On November 4, detectives received information that stolen card details were again being used at gas stations in Newbury Park. Gabrielian allegedly left one location after taking about $900 in fuel. Investigators tracked him to another station, where they say he bought roughly $800 worth using a stolen card, and arrested him.

A search of his work truck revealed concealed fuel tanks and large bladders, along with a pump and measuring equipment for moving fuel. Deputies also found several bank cards with notes listing expiration dates and PINs. The truck was seized as evidence.

Gabrielian, of Murrieta, was booked on nine identity-fraud counts and a grand-theft count. The investigation continues, and detectives believe others may have been involved.
