Five Plead Guilty in Kidnapping and Robbery of Detroit Man

Federal prosecutors say Roland Chatmon, Dixon’s nephew, and three women lured Dixon to a Detroit house on September 1, 2025, then held him at gunpoint, tied him up and robbed him. Chatmon, Leica Lopez Martinez, Ieasha Stroman and Dneiqua Stroman pleaded guilty to kidnapping and federal firearms offenses. Kenneth Anderson had earlier pleaded guilty to money laundering for helping move money from Dixon’s Cash App.

The plot followed a viral video of Dixon assisting an online personality who falsely claimed to be blind. The influencer later gave Dixon more than $100,000, a new vehicle and other items. Prosecutors say a recorded jailhouse call captured Chatmon and his brother discussing a plan to take Dixon’s money.

Dixon said a woman approached him in distress and asked for a ride, leading him to the location where the attack was waiting. He said the assailants drove him to ATMs and took money from his accounts, then forced him to his home, at which they bound his wife and took a safe. Prosecutors say Dixon was left on the ground and his truck was set on fire.

Dixon said investigators showed him a photograph of his nephew, and he recognized him. He said he has not recovered all his money and has struggled to find rental housing, but is grateful to be alive.

The four defendants who pleaded guilty to kidnapping and firearms offenses face at least seven years in prison. Sentencing for them is scheduled for February and March 2027. Anderson received probation and was directed to provide restitution.
