Man Accused of Stealing School Bus and Evading Deputies

Erick Moore, 23, of Miami Gardens, was arrested on November 5 after deputies said he took a school bus from a gated lot in unincorporated Gladeview the previous day. The bus belonged to Little Angels Bus Service, at 2951 NW 71st St. A company employee told investigators Moore had taken a bus from the business before and recognized him in surveillance video entering the property.

A detective spotted Moore driving the bus near Northwest 52nd Street and 29th Avenue on November 5. A deputy signaled for him to stop around Northwest 27th Avenue and 61st Street, but the bus continued moving. Deputies followed and tried another stop. Moore did not stop until the bus reached a dead end near Northwest 73rd Terrace and 24th Avenue, authorities said.

During questioning, Moore initially claimed someone had made a death threat against his family if he did not take the bus to dismantle it. Investigators said he later acknowledged taking it, believing he would escape consequences. Official records indicated his driving privileges had been suspended from August 2024 onward because of unpaid fines.

Moore is accused of vehicle grand theft, burglary, and fleeing or eluding an officer. He also received traffic citations for reckless driving and driving with a suspended license. A judge set bond at $7,500 on November 6 and directed him to avoid contact with the bus company. He was held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
