Bodycam Shows Perez Hilton Being Taken to Hospital After Crisis

On November 5, bodycam footage from the response to Perez Hilton’s August 4 crisis in Miami showed emergency workers carrying the celebrity blogger from his home on a stretcher. Hilton, 48, was blurred in the footage, while blood was visible on the apartment walls. He was taken to a local hospital.

Hilton’s sister, Barbara Lavandeira, called 911 after finding him injured in a locked bathroom. She told the dispatcher he was awake and that she believed he had a box cutter or knife. Lavandeira said she left the home with Hilton’s children before calling for help. Responders arrived after calls from viewers and TikTok’s moderation team, which had stopped Hilton’s livestream.

Medical staff cared for Hilton’s cuts and overdose, and he was held under Florida’s Baker Act, which permits temporary involuntary hospitalization during a mental health crisis. His family said he had significant blood loss and other injuries requiring surgery. He spent more than a month in hospital receiving psychiatric care, then moved to a residential treatment facility in September, where he was expected to remain for several weeks or longer.

His three children are living with their grandmother in Miami. Family members said Hilton’s recovery remains the priority and that he will continue receiving professional care. Visits with his children are supervised, and he must receive psychiatric clearance beforehand.
