Beams Pierce Pickup on 405 Freeway in Westminster

Beams that came loose from a truck load pierced a pickup on the 405 Freeway in Westminster on November 4, leaving the material protruding through the vehicle’s cab near the driver’s position. The incident happened Wednesday morning, and the California Highway Patrol shared photographs of the damage.

Images showed the beams entering through the rear of the pickup and passing through the driver’s side, just above the steering wheel. The vehicle carrying the beams appeared to be a work truck fitted with a rack.

Only minor injuries were reported. The highway patrol used the crash photos to urge drivers to check that cargo is secured, safely loaded and not excessive before traveling. CHP Westminster said a few additional minutes spent preparing a load could help prevent a serious collision and save lives.
