Cross Keys High School Locked Down After Online Threat

Cross Keys High School was placed under lockdown after school staff learned of a threatening message posted by a student on social media. Law enforcement for the DeKalb district and school officials opened an inquiry and activated safety procedures to assess the threat and determine which pupil was responsible.

School security personnel and officials looked into the incident. District leaders reported that a search of the grounds turned up no weapons, and nobody among the students or employees was hurt. The student’s identity and the specific wording or nature of the post have not been disclosed.

Principal Roberta Gibson and Superintendent Norman C. Sauce III shared information on the security measures with parents, employees and local residents. District officials said violations of the 2026-2027 student conduct code and applicable laws would be addressed. They also said threats disrupt instruction and cause fear in the school community.

School leaders urged parents to discuss responsible choices, school rules and the consequences of making threats with their children. The district also encouraged students and families to report troubling comments, digital messages or potential dangers to a responsible adult or school administrator. The investigation is continuing.
