Georgia Tech Lists 15 Players Out Before Louisville Game

The availability report lists 15 Georgia Tech players as out for the Louisville matchup. The unavailable players include running back Malachi Hosley, wide receivers Rahkeem Smith and Kentrell Davis, and linebacker Kyle Efford. The list also includes four safeties, three offensive linemen, two defensive tackles, a cornerback and a defensive end.

Georgia Tech has lost three consecutive games since beating Duke. Its latest defeats were a 22-point loss at home to Boston College and a 23-point loss on the road to Pittsburgh. The team is approaching bowl-ineligibility territory, a first under coach Brent Key.

The offensive line remains short-handed. Key said last week that linemen Ethan Mackenny and Kevin Peay Jr. would not return for the season's remainder. Against Pittsburgh, Josh Petty and Will Reed started at tackle, with Petty sharing work with Jordan Floyd because Petty is on a limited workload.

Key said Petty is expected to remain on that workload for much of the season. He described the player as talented but inexperienced, and said Petty’s absence in the second half against Pittsburgh was due to the planned limit on his repetitions, not his performance. Georgia Tech faces Louisville at home on Saturday.
