Georgia Tech Opens Season With 75-55 Win Over Hampton

Georgia Tech built an early cushion and carried a 42-15 lead into halftime, then held off a more active Hampton after the break. The Yellow Jackets’ 75-55 victory in Atlanta on November 3 began their season and the Scott Cross era at the school.

Colby Garland led Georgia Tech with 16 points, shooting 7 of 10 from the field and adding four assists. Kam Craft scored 12, while Jackson Fields had 10. Tylis Jordan contributed nine points, eight rebounds and five blocks, and Cole Kirouac collected 10 rebounds.

Georgia Tech controlled the boards 59-33, including a 19-10 edge in offensive rebounds. The Yellow Jackets shot 42% overall but made only four of 28 attempts from three-point range. Hampton shot 28% from the field and was led by Nehemiah Lawrence and Etienne Strothers, who scored 10 points apiece.

Jordan’s rim protection and Georgia Tech’s rebounding were bright spots, while missed perimeter shots and turnovers remained concerns. Georgia Tech welcomes Georgia Southern on November 6. Hampton travels to George Washington on November 7.
