Bryant’s Lawyer Says Teen Set Up Parking Lot Confrontation
On November 4, attorney Levi McCathern said Noah Reyes and his companions targeted Dez Bryant before an October 25 confrontation in Southlake, Texas. McCathern said they drove recklessly, cut Bryant off and braked in front of him. He also alleged Reyes threatened to shoot Bryant. The attorney said witnesses had come forward to support Bryant’s account, but did not identify them in his statement.
Bryant confronted Reyes after the parties parked outside a restaurant. Video captured Bryant shouting at Reyes and knocking the teenager’s phone from his hand. Bryant received a citation alleging assault through physical contact, an offense categorized in Texas as a Class C misdemeanor. McCathern argued that the footage did not show the alleged driving or threat, and said he believed the incident was staged to provoke a public reaction that could go viral.
Reyes had earlier maintained that he bore no blame and that Bryant initiated the confrontation. He did not immediately respond to McCathern’s allegations on November 4. Bryant is scheduled for a court hearing on December 2.
