Four Killed in Three Halloween Night Shootings in Dallas

The shootings happened at three locations in Deep Ellum, an entertainment district east of downtown Dallas, during the early hours of November 1, after Halloween festivities. Police said the first was reported around 12:20 a.m., followed by another shortly after 1 a.m. and a third about 30 minutes later. The scenes were within roughly half a mile of one another.

Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said four people died and about 15 were injured. The number of injured remained subject to change as some people made their own way to hospitals. Police had not released the victims’ names or the injured people’s conditions. No officers were hurt.

Investigators have not established whether the shootings were related or what prompted them. Multiple people have been arrested and questioned, but police have not clarified their possible links to the incidents and are looking for additional suspects. Comeaux said officers had increased staffing ahead of the Halloween crowds, and one officer nearby arrived quickly and performed lifesaving measures on an injured person.

Police are interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence and seeking surveillance footage from nearby businesses. Comeaux asked people who were in the area to share photos, videos or other information with investigators. Crime scenes remained under investigation as officers worked to reconstruct what happened.
