Three Cardinals Who Could Be Moved Before the Deadline
The Arizona Cardinals continued reshaping their roster ahead of the November 10 NFL trade deadline. After trading receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. to Houston, the team benched Jacoby Brissett and reached a deal sending the quarterback to Baltimore. The move was still awaiting official completion on November 4, and its terms had not been disclosed.
Pass rusher Josh Sweat is viewed as the likeliest next departure. He has been linked to possible discontent since coach Jonathan Gannon was fired, and his recent production has improved. Arizona is said to be seeking a second-round selection, though a package built around a third-round pick and a later choice could be more realistic.
Safety Budda Baker is another potential trade candidate, although he has not appeared as close to leaving as Sweat. Baker told ESPN he wants to remain with Arizona and win, while acknowledging the team could make a business decision. A trade could give the veteran a chance to join a playoff contender; he has reached the postseason once in his decade with the Cardinals.
Running back James Conner is also a possibility. He has not played this season after suffering a foot and ankle injury in Week 3 of last season. Conner reworked his contract to stay in Arizona, but the team has several running backs when healthy and pursued younger options this offseason. He is in the final year of his deal, and a move could send him to a contender if Arizona takes him off injured reserve.
