Cowboys Emerge as Possible Josh Sweat Trade Suitor

Dallas is among the teams showing interest in Cardinals pass rusher Josh Sweat as the November 10 trade deadline approaches. The Cowboys host Arizona on November 1, giving them a chance to see the 29-year-old play in person before deciding whether to pursue a deal, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said in a social media post.

Arizona is 2-5 and could seek future draft picks by trading veterans. Sweat has been linked to trade discussions since head coach Jonathan Gannon was fired last offseason. He reportedly requested a trade afterward, but the Cardinals declined to move him at the time. Reports have also said Sweat may want a new contract.

Sweat signed a four-year deal worth $76.4 million with Arizona in 2025 after spending his first seven NFL seasons with Philadelphia. He had a career-best 12 sacks in his first season with the Cardinals. This season, he has brought down quarterbacks twice, recorded four quarterback hits and made three stops behind the line of scrimmage in seven games. In Week 6, he forced a fumble while bringing down the quarterback against Los Angeles, though that play did not count as a regular sack.

Dallas has struggled to generate consistent pressure, while the Cowboys’ defense has also allowed 373.7 total yards per game entering Week 8. A trade could bolster the pass rush, but one report says Arizona is seeking a second-round pick. Sweat turns 30 next offseason and has a lingering knee issue; his contract also has no guaranteed salary after 2026. Dallas has limited top draft capital available, which could complicate a deal at that price.
