Jenny Groom Named Head of MGM Alternative

Jenny Groom, an unscripted television executive who most recently led development at BBC Studios, has been named head of MGM Alternative at Amazon MGM Studios. The appointment was announced on November 4. Groom will report to Jenn Levy, the studio’s head of nonfiction, and is expected to start on November 30.

Groom will oversee MGM’s established shows, including Survivor, Shark Tank and The Voice, along with its format library. Her responsibilities will also include creating additional formats and shows for Prime Video and arranging sales to other outlets.

At BBC Studios, where she joined last year, Groom developed and executive produced Nation’s Dumbest for Fox and also worked on Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro for ABC and Hulu. Her work there also included securing development and pilot deals for projects across broadcast and streaming platforms.

Before joining BBC Studios, Groom spent almost twenty years with NBCUniversal, where she most recently served as executive vice president of unscripted programming. She worked on shows including The Traitors, Love Island, America’s Got Talent and American Ninja Warrior, and also oversaw The Voice. Levy said Groom’s experience on both the buying and selling sides of the business would support the studio’s unscripted programming and sales ambitions.
