SWAT Standoff Underway in Northeast Harris County
A SWAT operation was underway on November 4 at a home in the Evergreen Villas subdivision in northeast Harris County. The scene was in the 10300 block of White Fir Villa, situated between the east side of Beltway 8 and C.E. King Parkway, and began around 8:30 a.m., as officials and people at the scene reported.
Precinct 3 deputies had gone to the residence to serve a felony warrant on a wanted fugitive. The suspect barricaded himself inside and refused to come out, Constable Sherman Eagleton said. Authorities urged nearby residents to remain sheltered, and asked the public to avoid the area.
Video from above the scene showed a small robot breaching the home’s entryway, with four armed SWAT officers entering behind it. The officers were later seen running out of the house; the reason was not clear. About 15 minutes afterward, SWAT officers prepared to use a device called The Rook to force open the garage door.
Authorities had not identified the suspect. It remained unknown whether officers had made contact with him or whether anyone else was inside. The operation was ongoing.
